Broken Wrist Update No5.

I’m back! Well, kind of. I had my first day of rehearsals on Sunday and there was very little issue with the wrist. That goes to show the importance of following your rehab instructions. I didn’t even ache the next day.

Now, I wasn’t playing at 100%, but I also wasn’t shying away from playing. There were a couple moments when I felt something, but it wasn’t anything to worry about. It was more just a gentle reminder that, yes, I did in fact break my wrist.

This is a big win for me. I’m so glad to be playing drums and making music again. It was over 4 weeks without it in my life. That was to long. That’s a lesson in itself to not take my career for granted.

I’m not going to go straight back to normal right away. I’m still going to wear my splint like the doctor told me. Two more weeks and then I’m allowed to start lifting heavy things again. Or at least try. In between rehearsals and gigs, I’m not going to play either. I’m taking everything very slow.

I still can’t do a push up though which is frustrating. That will be the yardstick for when I go back to the gym. Once I can load the wrist we’ll be back making gains and lifting heavy. For now, though I’ll stick to my morning stretches and daily step count!

While I’m not playing at the moment, my band Winter Gardens have started our single release campaign. If you want to see what we’re up to then check out our Instagram or sign up for our newsletter where I send weekly news, updates, discounts etc
