Drum Lessons FAQ
-
The lessons are tailored for drummers of all skill levels—from complete beginners to intermediate players looking to refine their technique. Whether you want to learn the basics or develop advanced skills like the Moeller Method, push-pull technique, or finger control, I can help.
-
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, but I can accommodate shorter or longer sessions depending on your goals and availability.
-
It’s ideal to have access to a drum kit for practicing at home, but it’s not necessary for your first few lessons. We can also work on pad exercises and hand technique if you’re still deciding whether to invest in a kit. Progress can be made in the first months without a full kit.
-
Yes. I offer online lessons via Zoom. All you need is a stable internet connection, a device with a camera, and your drum kit or practice pad setup. Online lessons are not typically recommended for beginners
-
You’ll learn proper technique, musicality, and drumming fundamentals. Depending on your goals, we can cover topics like:
• Reading drum notation.
• Developing speed and control.
• Learning songs and grooves.
• Advanced techniques (e.g., Moeller Method, finger control, push-pull).

Absolutely! Drum lessons make a great gift. I can provide gift vouchers for single lessons or lesson bundles.
-
Not at all. Beginners are welcome, and we’ll start from the very basics to build a strong foundation.
-
My teaching approach is centred around helping drummers develop proper technique and musicality in a fun and engaging way. I prioritise efficiency, and focus on giving students the tools to grow at their own pace.
-
Please bring your own drumsticks, and a folder with plastic wallets to keep the materials I give you in.
-
As a standard, weekly lessons are best for beginners and intermediates. I do offer fortnightly lessons, but I cannot guarantee the same time each fortnight. Block Bookings only apply to weekly lessons.
-
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Last-minute cancellations may incur a fee.
-
I only teach 8+. This is down to the facilities of my studio and the size of the drums.
-
My studio is by the Hove Lagoon. There is regular bus routes, paid and free parking and space inside the building for a bike.
